Sabbaticals

My adventurous sabbaticals over the years.

Professor at SP Jain Center for Management, Singapore

In November 2006, I joined as a Professor at SP Jain Center for Management, Singapore while on sabbatical from XLRI.

I was in-charge of the Finance Area for both the Dubai and Singapore campuses, teaching the following MBA courses:

  • Corporate Valuation (2006-08)
  • Financial Management (2007)
  • Strategic Management (2007)

I also contributed to the institution by completing a report on "Corporate Visits and Alumni Meets" for SPJCM GMBA Program as well as creating the Finance Area Manual for SPJCM GMBA Program in the year 2007.

Professor (Public Administration) at LBSNAA, Mussoorie

In July 2012, I made a risky (but in hindsight a very rewarding) career move. I left XLRI to join The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie. LBSNAA is the apex training institute of civil servants in India.

The time had come to invigorate my interests in research and training, and at LBSNAA I primarily designed and taught the Management Module for Civil Service Officers.

ICCR Chair (Management Area) at Lagos Business School, Nigeria

While at LBSNAA, I accepted the Indian Council for Cultural Relationships ICCR Chair (Management Area) at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria.

If my work at LBSNAA was considerably new territory (since it focused on Leadership training), Lagos was a step back into familiar settings. In Nigeria I taught Corporate Valuation and Strategic Management courses as part of their MBA Programme. I was also able to complete my research work on business groups in India which eventually resulted in a co-authored book Indian Business Groups: Strategy and Performance.
